Watersmart Wrapped 2025: Thriving Through Smarter Water Solutions

2025 marked a year of growth, innovation, and real world impact for Watersmart. Guided by our mission, solving tomorrow’s water challenges today, we continued delivering practical, sustainable water solutions across New Zealand and beyond.

From award winning stormwater systems and water recycling technology to flood protection, safe drinking water, and smart water monitoring, this year reinforced our commitment to resilient, future focused water management.

Living Our Values in 2025

In 2025, we revisited and strengthened our company values
Smart Team. Smart Leaders. Smart Service. Smart Thinkers. Smart Learners. A Smart Future.

These principles shape how we design, supply, and support sustainable water solutions for councils, developers, commercial sites, and communities across Aotearoa.

Award Winning Stormwater and Flood Solutions

One of the standout achievements of 2025 was the strong market response to Porous Lane, our permeable, low carbon stormwater surfacing solution.

Key projects were delivered at Jack’s Landing in Hamilton and the Auckland Botanic Gardens in Manurewa, with more projects confirmed in the 2026 pipeline. Porous Lane was also recognised as WaterNZ’s Innovation Stormwater Solution of the Year, reinforcing its role in future ready stormwater design.

We also expanded Floody flood intelligence systems into new regions, working with Taupō and Hamilton councils to improve flood risk understanding and response.

Automatic flood barriers were installed at commercial sites including the Auckland Wynyard Precinct and Parnell, providing 24/7 flood protection for critical infrastructure.

Water Recycling, Monitoring, and Safe Drinking Water

Water recycling gained momentum nationwide in 2025, with increased adoption of Hydraloop water recycling systems across New Zealand. A live Hydraloop installation was added to the Watersmart Innovation Hub, allowing visitors to see decentralised water reuse in action.

We delivered safe drinking water to marae, schools, and community sites, installing a record number of Watersafe systems. Flowgen smart water monitoring now tracks water use at Go Media Stadium, supporting data driven water management.

Aquacomb continued as Aotearoa’s most trusted in slab water detention solution, while FenceTank and SlimCity remained top selling rainwater storage products.

Together, these systems enabled 4,201,950 litres of water attenuation capacity to be installed across New Zealand in 2025, over one million litres more than the previous year.

Industry Leadership and Community Impact

Watersmart supported and participated in key industry events including the Stormwater Conference, NZIBES Conference, Future Roads, and UDINZ events across Aotearoa, contributing to conversations shaping the future of sustainable infrastructure.

Beyond projects, our team raised funds for the Cancer Society Relay for Life for the third consecutive year and donated essential goods to Women’s Refuge.

Building for the Future

2025 also marked significant internal milestones. We launched a redesigned website to improve access to technical resources and product information. We relocated our headquarters and opened the Watersmart Innovation Hub, a dedicated space for education, collaboration, and showcasing sustainable water technologies. The hub’s opening event brought together industry, partners, and community members from across New Zealand.
